Rpm forge repositories not working

Guys , yum is been a headache for me i tried so many things but could'nt figure out the problem.I am connecting to rhel 5 server through putty from my windows system.
1. yum is not locally configured , it takes repo from a ftp site called ftp.redhat.com.
2.Through this site i was not able to install rpms it
says "nothing to do".
3.yum list and yum remove work.
4.So i had decided to update yum with rpm forge repos which were available in dag.
5.rpm forge repos installed, but unable to download and insall packages.
Please provide give quick response.

Hello,

Did you register your Red Hat server to the RHN network? What yum repositories are configured? Can you post the contents of the files in /etc/yum.repos.d? Do you have network connectivity, no firewall blocking, ...? By the way, Red Hat is not free, so I assume you bought a license. This gives you the right to support from Red Hat, so you could put your money to work and call them. If you didn't pay for a license then I suggest you look at free alternatives like CentOS for example.

Kind regards,

Eric
