removing an ad whcih promts me to install a movieplayer?


When on line, i get what appears a pop-up ad that sais my Adobe movie player needs to be updated? this ad apart from being annoying cfoncerns me of a threat. how do i stop this?

Actually, I'd start by checking the version you've got installed, and the version available from the Adobe website.
I've actually got the adobe repo in my repo list.
Also, is this definitely just and ad (which seems odd) or is it eg Firefox prompting you to say its out-of-date.?

If you are using "No-Script" allow the site and adobe ( but google for killing the persistent "flash cookie " )
also "ghostry" can cause this on some sites
along with "ad Block Plus"

they need to all be configured to your needs

or
update your adobe flash that is in the adobe repo for your distro
