Whcih is the best Linux for me?

Hi

The only version of linux i have ever used is Red Hat 7.2 and upwards, and I am just a beginner.

I would like to know which is the best Distro to use and the best version of the distro to use for me. I am still every much a . I would like to install the best version for someone learning. I want it to replace my Windoze OS.

Also does anyone know of a good online (free) tutorial on Linux?

If you're using Redhat, and you consider yourself a newbie, then I would stick with Redhat . It's the easiest distribution to install/maintain. Of course, some people will inevitably try to push their favorite distribution, but I recommend Redhat over all others for newbies...

That depends! If you want "easy to use", then RedHat, Mandrake, or SuSe. But if you want to really learn Linux, Slackware is a good choice. It's not "easy", and you may cuss like a sailor when you're learning, but if you don't quit in frustration, you'll learn a lot

I agree with the above. redhat or mandrake, also Libranet if you want a different flavor, it's debian based and with a broadband connection it is really easy to update and maintain. Slack if your into self abuse.

Thank you

Hi

Thank you to all the people that wrote a response to my question. I hope one day I can help some of you.

I guess if anyone needs help with Microflop products (not my fault that is all they really taught in my network engineering course to the frustration of one of my Linux mad teachers).

I can help mainly with their servers, but I guess not because Linux is so much better in so many ways..

Thanks,
