remote login to Linux from Xp


Hi there. i am having a few linux machines so can anyone please guide me how to remote login into the linux machine from an windows xp machine.

You need putty. Get it here http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/ Documentation is available from the same site.

You could also install Cygwin/X which includes the ssh client as well as an Xorg server. This would allow you to run an application remotely on the Linux machine and have the program display in a window on the Windows machine.

I like cygwin a lot better than putty. Cygwin gives a *nix environment for Windows, allowing a LOT of *nix software to run, including ssh.

4text console login: ssh
On the server side, install and setup a openssh server, and on ur client side connect it from 'PuTTY' (google it plz)

4GUI login: vnc
Install and setup a vnc server, and on ur xp client, user vnc veiwer to access ur server.

p.s. vnc has edition for free.
