Redhat network connectivity issue

I have installed redhat linux in a vmware workstation 7 in a win 7 machine. I have assigned static IP address with NAT VMnet8.
I can ping the win 7 vmnet 8 address from guest linux and can ping win 7wireless physical ip address. I cannot ping anything futher like my router or google.com. With a similar NAT config my Win 7 guest works perfectly.
Any help would be much appreciated - thanks

You could check whether a Domain Name System(DNS) server has been set in the file /etc/resolv.conf by typing the command
Code:
cat /etc/resolv.conf
And you could check whether the route is set right (the gateway will be the vmnet8 address) using the command
Code:
route

I have a win server in vmware in nat and this static config works - 192.168.131.5/24 gway 192.168.1.2 but similar config does not work in the redhat Linux. The Linux is in nat.with this with this config or dhcp I can ping the host machine ip but nothing further can't ping my router/ Internet. On the host pc the vmnet8 is 192.168.131.1 so the gateway 192.168.131.2 works here for the windows server. However this 131.2 ip ping does not work on both guests
Thanks
