Recompile kernel?
I'm trying to install RedHat 9 drivers for a soundblaster live audio card for my Dell Optiplex GX260, and I feel like I'm on a wild goose chase.
This is a fresh install of RH9, and I'm dual-booting with XP. The sounds work in XP just fine, so it's not a hardware problem.
I've looked at the following websites: Dell, RedHat, ALSA, Creative Labs. All I know is that the correct drivers are "emu10k1".
I've googled a ton, and downloaded files from a ton of places.
I follow the directions to the letter on recompiling the sound drivers. I run into errors.
I follow the directions for recompiling the kernel. I don't think I have the source files, so I don't get very far with that one.
Bottom line: How do I install my audio drivers when I have the files?

Speaking of wild goose chases, this is the Linux From Scratch project forum.
You need to ask a moderator to move this thread to a more appropriate forum where you'll get a lot more activity.

I apologize... I didn't know what forum would have been more appropriate.

No problemo.
You'll just get more help for your particular Red Hat problem in another forum.
