radeon r7 driver

hello, i have installed ubuntu one hour ago and i cant change my screen resolution. In displey options i have only two basic options: 1024x768 and 800x600. My monitor is has a resolution of a 1920x1080 and on windows it works fine. I havent checked third-party softwares when i was installing ubuntu and i think that i past by graphic driver(on windows i had ati control center). If anyone can help im using Gigabyte radeon r7 260x oc 1gb ddr5. I would realy love to change my screen resolution and play games.

Ubuntu uses vesa driver, IIRC, so you will only get 4:3 modes.

You need to post your ubuntu version, your driver from Xorg.0.log (the last one it settles on - there is sometimes quite a discussion), and whether you are trying to install open source or closed source drivers, and if there's a vga_switcheroo in ioperation with twin cards as in most laptops.

I suggest installing the AMD closed source driver. Although there is a open source Radeon driver available, I haven't had a whole lot of luck with it.
