Has anyone got Beryl working with open source driver for Radeon X600 and Radeon 9550

I am thinking what the best way to install Beryl will be for me and I came across this tutorial - - which uses the open source driver (something I would prefer). However, the two computers I want to install Beryl on have a Radeon X600 and Radeon 9550 respectively. These are listed under "Experimental 3D Acceleration", so I just wondered what likelihood there is of it working and whether anybody has had any success with these to cards, running Beryl, using the open source driver (especially on (Edu)(X)(K)Ubuntu Feisty Fawn).

If the opensource way won't work, I know that I can use frglx instead (propeitary ) and I have found a tutorial for that, but any other tips would be appreciated.
