I've tried linux for a few weeks, and I'm still very dependant on windows, and rarely use it anymore. So, I wish to remove it and use only windows xp for the moment. I currently have a dual boot working, with my linux partition being set as the active partition. How would I remove the linux partition and boot from windows normally without there being any kind of problems?
uninstall your bootloader, then boot a live linux cd and run "cfdisk"... from there you can delete the linux partitons and create new windows partitions in the free space...
then reboot into windows and format your new windows partition(s)...
# Basic Microsoft Windows security (can be out of date as I don't really keep up)
Firewall: ZoneAlarm Virus protection: AntiVir
Multi spyware removal utility: Lavasoft
i'm not sure how to set an active partition, but if you leave your bootloader installed, it won't matter if the windows partition isn't active...
you can (from within linux) modify your bootloader so that it goes into windows automatically without any prompts... and then remove linux...
then when you figure-out how to make the windows partition active, you can zero the master boot record and leave no trace of the penguin in sight... LOL...
i'm not sure, but the fixboot and fixmbr utilities on the windows cd's recovery console might be able to set an active partition...
