I haven't had much luck googling this question, so battling to find out how to do it.

I log into clients server using putty and ssh. The problem is this opens a terminal on my machine to the server so if the link breaks what ever was happening in the terminal cancels. Not ideal when running updates or things on the server.

What is the command to open a connection on the local terminal through a remote connection. Similar to using say VNC viewer or remote desktop to a Windows based pc, how is that done on a terminal with putty?

The command is Screen, which opens a local screen, then if the connection gets broken you simple type screen -r to reconnect to that screen.
