[SOLVED] Putting Linux On Netbook With A Flash Drive?

I have found ways to run Linux from a flash drive but I want to install it to my hard drive along side win7 starter (retail).

I can install win7 starter somewhat smoothly with a utility I found online...for some odd reason even if you remove the stick before the completion reboot the boot up detects 2 versions of win7 and in the c drive there are sometimes old windows folders.

In any case I need a little help installing Linux to the hard drive... setting up a dual boot with win7 and Linux using only a flash drive.

I've used unetbootin successfully for a few distros:

Many of the linux distro's allow you to create a usb flash version of the distro. It can then be used to install.

You don't need a utility to do the same with windows 7. They made this into a video but don't know why. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/e...ng-a-usb-stick

I get the feeling that you have some odd install issue going on. I suspect it is the windows deal. Start all over from an unpartitioned drive.

Be SURE that you don't need any info on the drive such as a recovery partition.
