Unhappy Puppy retro 4.2 stuck during load

Hi.

Im as noob as you can get with linux. Ive never used linux before but this may be my only option to have a functioning computer. Ive read alot about it and am anxious to try it out.
Im trying to install puppy 4.2 retro on a completely blank hard drive. I do not have any ms dos disks unfortunately.
Alternatively, I cannot get the live cd to run in ram either. It freezes on the initial screen. All I get it this
boot:
Loading

And thats it. Ive been looking at that screen for 20 minutes
I went into the boot options and tried a few of those options to no avail, eg. pfix=ram, etc.

What do I do?

Im running a dell optiplex gx150
256ram
III 930mhz

Hi,

Welcome to the pack! Great to have you around!

Okay, does it HAVE to be this one? Maybe, MacPup 5.2? I've had some great experience with that one! By the way, I had it running (smoothly I might add) on several "machines"...including one in questionable state

Let's see if your first steps in Linux can be fun and productive!

I'll keep this thread in the scope!

Thor

Kind regards
