Qucho

I checked to see if my CD was connected to the sound card and it is so I think it must be another problem with KSCD not working. The CD's seem to play, it displays the album and track but no sound comes out.

Any other suggestions as to what may be the problem

Damn... well is a hard one to fix since we dont get error messages
So I would have to make sure basic stuff is covered.

A) I asume you DO have sound working, like been able to play mp3's
B) You tried playing music CD's in alternative software like Kaboodle, Noatun, Xine, XMMS, or MPlayer.
C) You checked your mixer has the audio CD imput NOT muted.
D) The audio cable (a thin rounded one, not the ribon) from the CD-ROM is connected to your sound card.
E) You tried playing more than just 'that one' music CD
F) it is a CD-ROM and not a DVD-ROM (this last one, I think need some controlers, not familiar with them honestly).

If all that is covered and still is a no go... well then I have no stinky clue what can be.

Cool

Sound is working and I have been able to play MP3's.

On the good side of things I used K AudioCreater and that worked fine to rip tracks from CD's and also some how managed to resolve the audiocd problem with Konqueror as well I am not quite sure how though.

I have tried Xmms and get no sound from that I will try some of the others this evening to see if I have any success with them.

I have definately checked that the CD cable the thin one is plugged into the CD In socket on the sound card and I have tried more than one CD.

I think the problem may be the last one it is a DVD. I have CD Rewriter as well so I will try swaping the audio cable only one is plugged in as there is only one socket.

Getting KAudioCreater to work though is a big plus as I tend to copy tracks to a playlist and then just listen to them at random from that rather than playing CD's directly anyway. It would be nice though to get KSCD working correctly though.

Thanks for your help

Fletch

My guess is, it installed a missing/updated library, and thats why it works now.

Like I said I have no experience with DVD's There are several packages for DVD's though.

I dont know what else to say, but good luck !
