problems with installing alien

I am trying to install limewirelinux.rpm, I was told that I needed to install alien to do this. I tried sudo apt-get install alien but all I get is this:

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

Does any one know what to do?

Sounds like you are trying to do it while logged in as normal user. Installing software involves writing to directories that the normal user doesn't have permission to write to.

Su to root, then try again.

PS. In the future, please tell us what distro you are using. It would also be a good idea to read this: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...Ask_a_Question.

Do you have an earlier version of limewire installed already?
