Problems recording sound

Hello.

I can't seem to be able to record anything I'm using Mandrake 9.0, and I've got an SB Live! 5.1.

I can use both the Mic and Line In, that is I shout something in, and sound comes out But when I actually try recording, all I get is silence.

I've played around with the mixer settings and everything seems to happen as expected, it's just the actual recording that doesn't work.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Cheers,
Björn

you've probably not set the actual record volume, only the output volume. run aumix and incease the IGain value ro which setting you have

Also let us know which program you are running to record the sound; and try other programs as well to determine if this is a program specific problem or not.

Cool

Thanks guys, IGain it was!

In my studies and work I have to use a mic quite alot, and having to switch to Windows for that all the time was taking alot of Linux time away from me.

Now I'm one step closer to ditching Windows completely
