Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Unhappy Problems recording high-quality sound with an NVidia chipset

Hi to all,

I have an NVidia mainboard, with integrated nforce-type sound. Everything works fine for playback, but when I try and record (with a variety of programs), I get very low quality recordings despite specifying a high sample rate. Since this is the same with lots of software, I'm guessing that it's a hardware issue.

Any ideas?
