problem with gaim


When i am trying to connect to Y! and MSN Gaim is showing an error like this
for Y!
JIV has been signed off : unable to read

for MSN
jiv@hotmail.com was unable to signon : protocol not supported

any help ???

Well.. about MSN... as of October 15th they are no longer accepting connections from clients that try to connect with any protocol which is not Protocol 9.

I think something similar happens to Yahoo!.

However, I believe the new GAIM works with the new protocols. You should try updating your GAIM version to the latest one.

install version .71 of gaim. msn changed their verification protocols.

I have installed the new gaim version and can now connect to yahoo. However, i can't find any MSN accounts to create. It is not in the list, any advice?

do you have the ssl libraries installed (or properly installed that is)?

look at gaim and msn

If you're running 7.1 it should be one of your options. If you're running something less the you would have to fine a plugins windows (should be in the menu's somewhere) and it will let you add the msn library to add the proticol.

Are you sure msn isn't listed? I'm sure that the newest version is the only one that will connect with yahoo. The newest version is 7.1 and mine has msn as an option

i've got Gaim 0.71 and MSN lib is installed by default and working just fine...
