I have just moved from Windows 10 and want to connect my new Mint system to my Canon printer,but where to I find my URI details. I'm in my nineties and not very technical.ly minded

You would need the print driver from canon's website and then you install the printer using the cups web interface, type localhost:631 into any web browser.
