power saving mode at login screen

The problem is that i want the monitor to go into power saving mode at the login screen.
The Xscreensaver settings doesnt work directly.
Plase note that i am not asking for the user specific setting of screen saver.
i am using Mandrake 10.0

Thanks in advance.

man xset. I think you want a low timeout value before it blanks the screen but that can get annoying. If you only want this to happen at login thats beyond me. anyways modern monitors dont have the burnin problem.
