Unhappy post upgrade from mandrake 9.x to 10.1 limited to shell access

recently upgraded from mandrake 9.x to 10.1 VIA ISO cd's. previously
had GUI interface to OS, post upgrade now am limited to shell login.
"startx" fails with complaints that xf86config has invalid section name
of "InputDevice". Searches of internet for help yielded only one thing,
that everyone has an opinion...just not the same. Any help would be
appreciated.

Have you tried using XFdrake? or drakconf?
