I took the plunge and installed Suse on an extra hard drive in my desktop ... a Compaq with nvidia. The installation was very easy and the partitions are working well letting me switch from XP to Suse easily. However, after I boot Suse, all I get is a black screen. I'm very, very new to Linux having only played around with a few live cd distributions so I need an easy solution to this problem.
According to the manual, CTRL-ALT-F1, log in as root, then enter init 3, this will bring you to runlevel 3, what you need. If that doesn't work, when it boots up, select 'Linux safe'. After you get logged in as root, in the console, enter
sax2
it should bring up your X config. During the install, did you test your X config?
