permissions and owner for shared drive

I've got a desktop (my server) running CentOS and two laptops. In the server I've got two extra harddrives. I've just figured out to the mount them but I did it as root so, root is the owner of the mountpoint. I want to use these harddrives to store backup data from the laptops and to store shared data such as pictures. I want laptop users (there are currently two but I plan on adding 4 more users with limited access read only) to have read, write, exec access to these extra drives so they can save files to them, lists the files in them etc... Right now, I've chmoded 777 but I know thats dumb. So my question is who should own these mountpoints owner and group so that any valid user of the system can save files to them.

Thanks

I suggest that you give each user their own directory on one of the extra hard drives.

thanks

Thanks for the response but i figured it out, the problem is that i want each user to have the same access to the same directory. Right now, its a photo directory. I want my wife to be able to save pictures to it as well as me so that we can backup our stuff and view it easily. I installed and configured samba.
