Unhappy Permissions & execute files

Hello,

I'm really hoping that someone can help me. I've been thrown in the deep end with a Linux server (Redhat 9) and I normally manage Windows servers.

We have a fresh Linux Redhat 9 box, which I have been asked to do the following for:

Create a new user account, who will have permission to a folder on the server called e.g. foldera, the folder can exist in /home/<newuser>/foldera

The new user account must be able to write/delete/execute within the folder.

&

The new user account must be able to execute a program called 'runme.run'(which will exist in foldera). Is it possible to get the runme.run to be executed in a script during the startup of the server as well?

Any help would be appreciated, I don't have a clue what to really do.

Sounds like a homework question.... given the benefit of doubt.

Consult the following documentation.
man adduser
man chown
man chmod

That will for the most part cover it.

Just in case you do not know, you will need type those in at the command line or a terminal emulator. ;]

Just FYI, RH9 is waaay out of support and has been superceded by either RH Fedora core 7 or the latest RH Enterprise Linux (v4?). BTW, you can get free version of RHEL from Centos.
I strongly suggest you update (fresh install) a more modern distro if you are going to learn/use this for real.
