Set Execute Permissions?
I'm running Mandrake 10.1, and I recently installed LimeWire. For some reason, I installed it in /root/, and now when I log in under my normal user account, it won't let me run the executable ( I can run it logged in as root).
I would like to move the executable to my /home/ directory, and be able to execute it there as my normal login. I have tried altering permissions (chmod) and ownership (chown), but it still will not let me run the program. If I move the executable under KDE, it tells me that "The3 file no longer seems to exist".
Help! Thanks.

What are the current permissions? What did you use with the chmod command?

I think: chmod +rwx {user}
I think I changed permissions back to the original settings. If I go into permissions in KDE, the option to change the permissions is there, but not selectable. I will happily use Konsole to make the changes.

chown scottlyter.users
chmod 770 program.name
did you do a mv or cp? if you cp it to your dir as your user, it should change your user.group settings for you
make sure your home dir is in your path, or you will have to cd to your home and type
./program.name
to execute the binary
