Permissions?

I can't access a folder that is in my http directory, while every other thing is accessible. The permissions seem to be the same, though it is a directory with two more directorys in it, and in each of those are the files. Can I just set the main directory with the permissions and the rest will follow? Or do I have to set each directory and file permission seperately? Is the group supposed to be Apache or my name? What would be the correct permissions for myself to write read and execute, the group (apache im assmuming) to read and execute, and others none. Because when I try it, it does not seem to be working. Thanks.

If the folder/files show your user as the owner, and the group as apache (of which you are a member I assume) then you can:

chmod 770 -R /name/of/file/or/folder

the -R will chmod recursively, so if you chmod the top level folder than the permissions will be changed on any file or folder UNDER that directory.
