open swf


hi all ,
how can i open .swf files on linux ?
should i install wine ?
am using F11

.swf files are Flash files, so use your internet browser to browse to their location and watch them in your browser.

It depends on what do you mean by "open". If you want to *edit* swf files you will probably need to install the Adobe suite, and you will need wine for that because there's no native linux port.

If all you want is to play flash animations, then you can use the adobe plugin flash, there's a linux port of that, and as said above it will only work inside a web browser that has support for netscape plugins (most do).

In case you are trying to play a saved Flash file, you can use VLC. For playing it in the browser, install the adobe flash plugin as said by @i92guboj.
