I'm running Ubuntu and would like to find a really good multiplayer, online adventure game to play (Tibia and some others were only for Windows) with other people from around the globe. What's hot right now? Suggestions? Thanks Much.
Lol. Funny you mention Tibia. They just stopped the Linux client support. No ideas here, whatsoever. Linux is usually seen as a geek system by the game programmers. In other words, they assume that we never want to play any gamez. Too bad, that makes us need either ReactOS or Winbarf.
Edit: Oh, just checked your loc. Ask 'round your local unversity. They developed BSD there, you know. They will know.
It's my understanding that World of Warcraft is the hot new thing. I know that you can get it running in Linux via Cedega from Transgaming.com. The WoW people just signed their 5,000,000th player. At $12 (US) per player per month they are grossing $60,000,000 (US) per month. Amazing.
The game that I like playing is Wolfensten: Enemy Territory. It is completely free and there are good people on there, but there are also idiots that like to hack. That is where PunkBuster comes in. Punkbuster is built into the game and automatically updates so you can play on completely clean servers. Here is a link for ET (ET is how people refer to this game). http://returntocastlewolfenstein.fil...erritory;14408
While you are on that site look around for things that may interset you. This game is COMPLETELY and I stress COMPLETELY customizable (as long as you know how to program...that is). It is a quick download. This is my suggestion and I hope you like it!
bzflag isn't adventure but it's another freebie that is pretty decent. If you choose WoW, I recommend you play it under Wine, not Cedega. Wine is free and every report I've heard is that it runs better under Wine. Go figure...
