Ok, I think I will try out Partition magic in order to get a FAT partition for sharing, but if I decide that I want a bigger / partition or /home partition, I will just have to reinstall? BTW, what about those other things that come up in the boot loader? I don't want to go into them and screw something up, do you know what they could possibly be?

Hey guys,

Sorry to hijack the train of thought on this thread, but just wanted to let you know how my install went (you can find my original post in this thread, it's third or fourth).

1. Installed using the method I suggested in my original message, it worked flawlessly, the machine is dual boot, NTLDR handles loading.

2. I installed nVidia drivers with ease.

3. I have a WinModem (AOpen FM56-PX), and I got the free driver from Linuxant -- it's limited to 14.4 kbps (if anyone has the non-free version, let's talk), I got it work once I changed the modem speed to 57600 instead of the default 115200.

4. I have trouble with eth0 during bootup -- could it be because I don't have a LAN cable plugged in? If so, it seems silly that it would take it a minute to figure that much out.

If anyone else needs help with steps 1-3 you can e-mail me or post here. But beware, I'm a newb too.

Vlad
