It sounds like it works but you just need to configure X Windows.

Can you login as root at the command prompt?

If so, type ' startx ' and see if it trys to start and then kicks you back to a prompt.

If it does, you can go to www.monitorworld.com and find your exact monitor and it's settings.

Then run ' xf86config ' and see if you can configure X Windows.

Let us know

Oh yeah..........Nice job on giving it another go. We know you can do this!

It kicks to this in the middle of the install.. before it loads the Bootloaderand stuff.. it has not even copied all the data over..

This may be a strange question but.. is there a screen saver during the install.. that is almost what it seems like.. kicking to a screensaver and not being able to get back..

Did you run the md5sums on the download before burning? Make sure plug and play is turned off in the bios.
During the install kick it down to text mode or details and tell us what its loading at the time. We need a bit more info to get better answers.

Sounds like either a cd drive going buggy giving bad reads. Or a ram problem. That can give the exact same looking error.

If you can try a different cd drive in the system or different memory chips. I know not everyone has junk like that just laying around, but, you know ,maybe, possibly, you might.
If that doesn't sound right or feasable try reburning the disk as the slowest speed on a different media. I know for me some disks just don't like my one drive.

rogan, if you do decide to chose RedHat you only have to use it for 6 months or so. Get the gist and then pick a flavour.
How does it sound? Pianless install.
You can still get RH9; that version is still pre-marketing
