i have recovered it probably 10 times because while editing it i just x'd out and i guess that is wrong because it seems to be saving it... hmmm
i have been looking for a reason to wipe it and restart.... i only have this on my 20 gigger and i should be putting it on my main drive... i will do as you say after i rebuild on my 80 thank you!!!!

I know how hard it is editing in the console, bu tyou only have to do this once!

ok with my latest install.. it still doesnt come up even after doing the reset on the x86. what now?

Loging and type startx.

If nothing happends try alt-F7.

This is the limit of my knowledge sorry. I've gone through everthing I know for Redhat.

Lightbulb Try this way.

I have a how to. It's really for Mandrake 9.1 but should work. Also note, if you have a /etc/XF86Config-4 file you should edit it. If not edit the /etc/XF86Config file. Here's the link:

Hope this helps. That 'vi' editer is pretty tuff for a newbie. It almost beat the crap out of me and I had a book telling me how to use it.
