nohup process dosen't complete

I'm trying to run a nohup process to backup a large directory but it fails to complete the copy.
-> nohup cp -Rp b01 MyBackup_b01 &

The process starts and waits without going to a prompt. When I hit the "enter" key the process stops without completing all of the copy.

What wrong with this? Should this command run in the background until it is complete? Thnks in Adv.

It should -- does the process complete successfully if you run it interactively?
