New Monitor Appears Grainy

I just installed Slackware 10.2 about a month ago. I had a 17" CRT monitor that worked fine. I got a new ACER 17" LCD monitor and now the pictures look grainy and a little off color. The text looks fine. I have changed my monitor horizontal and vertical syncs to match the new monitor and that did not help. any ideas? tested the monitor on my xp box and it works fine

LCDs and TFTs are optimized for one resolution. Are you using the native resolution?
