Networking WinXP and Fedora

Does anyone know if it is possible to network Fedora and Windows XP? I'd like to install Fedora, but I would need internet access and in my house this is all done with a network through Windows XP.

Yes you can do this quite easily. All you should have to do it simply install Fedora onto a computer and hook it up to the network. I am assuming that you have somthing like the following:

Cable Modem -----> Win XP ----> switch ----> rest of the computers.

You should only have to setup either a dhcp connection or static connection depending on how you have the Win XP system setup.

OK, you will have to take this one really slow with me. My networking skills are pretty much non-existant! Now we have the modem/router and then the DSL cables going to each computer. There is one main computer (not mine). To setup internet on my computer all I did was plugin and run the Windows networking wizard. Does this sound like a nice simple setup, or am I looking at something more complicated with this dhcp that you mentioned?

I think you have it setup a little differently than I thought. Let me see if this is right (if not correct me)

DSL modem ----> router -----> rest of computers

If this is the case then when installing Fedora you would simply need to select DHCP for the NIC when it asks for what type of connection.

Yes, that looks a little better. Is there any kind of tutorial that I can read up on this ahead of time to be prepared? I had a browse through the Linux tutorial section here and didn't find anything, but perhaps I've overlooked something.

The best thing I could tell you to do is either find a linux install howto or better than that I would simply suggest trying to install it and then if you have problems you can then better ask the questions.
