Need Distribution Reommendation

I just got my old Dell set up, but I don't have any OS to put on it yet. I tried Ubuntu, but it runs very slowly. I changed it to Xubuntu (which is supposed to be a little better for slower computers, right?), but it still doesn't run all that great.

My only experience with Linux is on Ubuntu, so what other distros could I use that would run well on an older computer, while keeping a fairly user friendly interface?

The Dell's specs are:

Pentium III Processor (800Mhz)
256MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce MX 4000
8 GB Hard Drive

Many distributions will work fine with lightweight desktop environment, you should just stay away from heavy distributions.
