Contents of /etc/<distribution>_version and /etc/<distribution>-release
I'm gathering some information about Linux distros and I'd like to know:
1) Does the file /etc/slackware-release exist on Slackware Linux ?
2) What are the contents of this file ?
Thanks

I'm gathering some information about Linux distros and I'd like to know:
1) Does the file /etc/debian_version exist on Debian Linux ?
Is there any other file that contains the release information ?
What about Ubuntu ?
2) What are the contents of this file ?
Thanks
