My Fedora 8 Desktop doesn't fully load anymore...

When I load up into the desktop, everything shows up except my top left menus (System, Fedora logo, Places, etc). What causes this? What should I do?

Try to create a new user and login with that user. If the desktop works with your newly created user, it should be easy to fix. You will in that case, restore gnome default settings. Login with your broken user again and do this (assuming you are using Gnome) from a terminal

rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity

That is a pretty common occurrence I have had on the past actually... I am not sure why Gnome brakes so easy, but it does.

Is the Gnome menu removed from the panel by some user mistake maybe? Have you tried to add it to the panel?

Sometimes it comes out and others it doesn't. What's the shortcut for terminal, cause I can't access it, no menus hehe.

Press ALT+F2 and in the run dialog box, type gnome-terminal then click on Run.
As root type;
Code:
gconftool-2 --shutdown
rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
pkill gnome-panel
Please post if that helped.

Seems to have worked. I've rebooted 5 times and all is well, thank you.
