my.conf is blank, how can i solve it?


I'm trying to use MySQL (follow guide from http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...on_notes.html), after I type gedit /etc/my.conf, i get a blank page of my.conf, how can I solve this problem? what have I done wrong? did I miss something? can anyone give me some hints? thank you.

my.conf doesn't actually need any entries for mysql to work.

After I type "chmod a-w config.inc.php", it shows a blank page, why? Do I miss up something?
