Can we start at the beginning?

You tried to install CentOS into a Virtual Machine using Virtualbox?
You keep getting a "kernel panic"?
You tried changing the Virtual Machine's settings to fix it, but none of that helped?

How did you download CentOS? With a ISO image downloaded from here ?
Exactly which ISO image for CentOS did you download? Did you verify the ISO file's integrity?
Which VM settings exactly did you try changing?

Also, tell us in which phase of the installation the error his you, and provide more detail from the panic message.
