Mplayer Install

OK I'm new to Linux, I downloaded Redhat 9, installed it without problems. I updated Mozilla and installed it, no problems. I downloaded GAIM and AMSN and installed without problems. So i try installing mplayer. I get the files I install them. It tells me it's installed, but i can't run mplayer or find it in the /usr directory. So i reinstall the RPMs and it says it's already installed. What am I missing?

Try compiling it from source. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html
That will tell you if you are missing anything that you need to install also to get it to work.
