Mouse Pad Configuration

Hi, I have a loptop and my mouse and mouse pad would both work but I change something in the mouse configuration to a different mouse and now only the mouse works and not the mouse pad, then I changed it back like I had it and still the mouse pad doesn't work, is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Yes, if I am well informed you have to edit the X config file and possibly load a driver.

There is a lot opf info at : http://www.linux-laptop.net/
Choose your own one. I know that in the assus section (3500) the topic is described.

another possibility to activate your mouse pad of your laptop is using a ps/2 mouse and configuring it. afterwards restart your laptop and remove the ps/2 mouse. it worked on my laptop (this tip has been tested with suse linux and red hat linux)

Yes that works but then I don't have a mouse, and I prefere a mouse over the mouse pad, It would be nice to have both though.
