mount /run (empty on 4M core & mll) Just trying to LEARN this strange ...

Patience please because this may be a crazy rabbithole...

I do know basic old Unix CLI, but not tmpfs ...

I did some web-searching (even LQ) but my /run was always empty & found lots I didn't understand.

(tangent: on Slackware, I almost umount /run but kill elogind which lsof said was using it, sent me back to login: prompt)

I'm trying to
Code:
mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /run
on mll [.iso here] & 4M core (in a virtualbox)

But my /run is empty on those tiny distros, vs lots of stuff on 'real' distros.

Maybe I don't understand what populates[?] /run

Thanks in Advance for any tutoring from the Gurus!
(good tutorial links welcome!)

Edit added after a day of web-reading:
It's simply a way of saying: "use ram"! '' yields: none on /...

Last edited by ___; 02-17-2024 at 09:44 PM. Reason: just add 4M core iso page link

/run is a sort of /tmp for the system. /tmp contains users' temporary files and /run contains those that the system creates for its own purposes.
