motorola sb2400 modem in slackware

HI, I would really appreciate any help with this problem

I have a motorola sb2400 modem which I am trying to use under Slackware 10. I am connecting it with a network card, not USB. Problem is, I have no idea how to get it working. I found this FAQ :

hRRp://howtos.linux.com/howtos/Motorola-Surfboard-Modem/intro.shtml

and followed the instructions, but unfortunatly the link to how to setup a DHCP client (whatever one of those is :P ) is dead.

I just really don't know what to do. Does any one know if a guide exists which will take throught this job from step 1 to the point where I can type a URL into Mozilla?

Or, failing thet, something that will at least point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for any help.

tyke; why not let slackware recognize modem & let slackware setup net connection? that is depending on u & ur needs. i,ve let mdk 8.1 do that for me so far no problems.

tyke; dhcp is dynamic host configuration protocol which is software that automatically assigns IP address to client station logging onto a tcp/ip network. unless u r running a server or network disable dhcp & use tcp/ip
with dns. as stated originally slackware os should have options of how u would want to be connected to net.
