Monitor not supported in fedora12

i recently dual booted fedora12 with window 7. during the starting of installation of fedora my screen's brightness reduced at its lowest degree. i thought that after installation this problem will be solved. but even after installing the problem pertained and when i checked the monitor option i noticed that fedora12 does not read my laptop monitor. it says monitor not found. i don't know the cause for this problem. could anyone tell me the reason for it??

If this is a fresh install my first advice would be to not install Fedora 12, but Fedora 15. Fedora 12 is not supported anymore, it will get no new software, no bugfixes and no security updates.
Since the newer version will also use a newer kernel with newer drivers and a newer X-server this may automagically solve your problems.
