Missing Man pages

I just did a fresh install of Fedora Core 8 under VMWare, and I seem to be missing man pages for everything. Whenever i want to look for the man page for say, mkdir, it doesn't show up with anything. It says formatting page, and all it says is END. Any help would be appreciated

Check to see if the man package is installed with this command: rpm -q man.
The man package displays the man pages of installed packages, one of the features of rpm is that you can exclude documents when installing a package/packages which includes the man pages, so the man package can actually be installed and configured correctly but can't format the documentation if it does not exist if it was excluded during installation.

I have not installed Fedora 8, but long ago did install Fedora Core 6 and Fedora 7. I believe you can select whether to install documentation or not during installation when selecting package groups.

Open your graphical package manager and check if the documentation group is installed, it can be installed from there if not.

Seems too late to use 'yum' for the man pages,
all mirrors closed some days ago ....
but here are the 1,983 packages from the install DVD

And about 'mkdir'

The "Rpm Fusion Repositories" are still available

....
