Mambo and personal web page: Apache?

Hi. This question is for networking section, but I'm a newbie...

I'd like to develope my personal web page, using PHP, MySQL etc., using (a friend show me it) Mambo. I only know something about those *languages*, and HTML and a few Flash, but I don't know anything about server-client dialogue, asp, hosting etc.
My first question is: were can I learn theory about these arguments?

Well, in the town where I study, and where I would like to develope my site, I haven't an internet connection, but I know that php need a server to run. Someone tells me I need an Apache local server. I think I installed it in Fedora Core 3.0, but I don't know:

1) How does it work
2) How I have to configure it properly
3) How to use it with Mambo

Naturally, I think noone wants to explain me all the theory about it... But if you can give me an hand, like a quick explanation or some documents to read, I'll pray for him every night...

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.

Closed the original because the dupe is in the more appropriate forum.
