I want to make a desktop icon in the tray next to
the browser.
Help with both making the link and selecting an icon
requested.
The PC Pine version of the program uses a Pine tree icon.
I've looked for the icon file on the PC Pine install but
can't locate where it is or how it is invoked. I also
asked this at comp.mail.pine.
Some instructions have come in on this from the Mepis
forums.
I was also able to find the Pine icon which is an .icl
file... meaning I couldn't find it as an .ico.
There's an icon editor that found the icon and I saved the
.icl file to a floppy.
When loading Mepis I mounted the floppy and clicked on
the icon file and it loaded into Kiconeditor-- a prog. I had
never seen. I tried to resave it, but that was a problem.
Will the Kiconeditor 'save as' to the right file format?
I have yet to know if that works and copy it over into
the icons area of Mepis.

Right click on KDE panel, choose add applets, choosse applications, choose any program.
You will see new shortcut appear on your panel, right click it and choose properties.
In the properties dialog, on the first tag, you will see a big button contains the app 's icon, click this button will give you a dialog to change icon.
On the applications tag, you can change the name and the command to run this app, type /usr/bin/pine in the command line text box.
Icon in linux can be any pictures format (but png is recommend), not only .ico, so if you can manage to display this image you can take a screenshot, cut the icon and save it in another file.
There are actually icon editors for both windows and
KDE.
I managed to find, save to floppy and move to
Linux, resave and install. The icon looks nice.
But I'm having a hell of a time making the right link
to
program. What is going on is anything put in
kmenduedit goes to the mail prog's composer rather
than main screen.
