Angry lost pw cant log on term no user name or pw

have lost pw cannot log into term no name or pw, can I salvage this machine or do i have to re install mageia

You should be able to reboot into single user mode or boot off the live cd to change the root password.

I was able to reboot to failsafe mode which logged me in as root, I typed passwd, and changed the PW, such a simple fix, I forgot about it, but now ill never forget. PW CHANGED!! yes.
