i installed open suse 2 days ago and when i get into linux i get a login screen which asks fro password which i didnt get earlier and when i type the password it lloks like it logging in but i am brought back to the same login screen.no matter how many times i enter the password i get the same screen.i didnt make and typing errors
When you get to the login screen after the system boots up, do "CTRL-ALT-F1". You will be dropped into a terminal. Enter "root" as the username and roots password. After that do "init 3". Once thats done, logout as root, login as a normal user and run the command "startx". Please post back the outcome of doing that including any error messages.
i tired out you advice and the thing goes into terminal but when i give root as user and roots as pass it says invalid login id or pass.i am just 2 days old to linux so is init3 a command or what?
"init 3" is indeed a command. When you login as root, you need to enter the password you set for the root user during installation. You seem to be entering the wrong password and thats why you are getting that error message.
