localhost.localdomain???

Ok, I am running RedHat 9 and gnome. I am tired of looking at localhost.localdomain all the time. I have seen other users have there domain names there. I have the domain oasisone.org registerd and pointing to my IP. So, I configuerd the host.conf file as so:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.106 Neo IRC
192.168.0.135 R2D2 Laptop

As you can see I am behind NAT. I am wanting my box to be r2d2.oasisone.org. I set this name and hostname up, but when gnome starts it say's it can't look-up the internet address for r2d2.oasisone.org. Am I going about naming my box all wrong? Someone please help if you can. Thanks!

ps. If you need any more info please ask

Can i please have your IP address and root password

Anyway, the host.conf is supposed to have something like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.106 Neo.[domain missing] IRC
192.168.0.135 R2D2[domain missing] Laptop

I believe this is your problem. Also check your router config if you use one, which i think you do with those IP's. Also cat your /etc/resolv.conf and see what's inside there. (its the other half of your net config). Also note that gnome has a fairly good netconfig utility.
