Hi, here are a few problems that I had. I would really appreciate if someone could help me solving (and understanding) them.

1.I've been trying to install linux on an external drive of my Compaq Presario laptop. All the installation process works fine but when the computer reboots, I have a black screen with L 07 printing on it. I don't know what to do to install it correctly.

2. As I really needed it, I've finally installed linux momentarily on my C drive, and it works fine. Now, I'd like to know how I can configure Lilo so that the graphical menu doesn't give me as many partitions, and how to choose the default OS that is highlighted.

You edit your /etc/lilo.conf file to remove the images that you don't want to show up on the graphical menu. To set the default OS, look for the line in your /etc/lilo.conf file that says default= and then replace the name after the ' = ' with the name of the image that you want to be the default. Also, after any changes you make to the /etc/lilo.conf file, run the command /sbin/lilo to make the changes take effect on the next boot.
